PastLight — AI Photo Restore

Effective 21 September 2026

The short version

PastLight restores old photographs. To do that, the photo you choose is sent to Google's Gemini API, restored, and sent back. Your restored photos are kept on your device. We do not have a server, we do not keep copies of your photos, we do not sell your data, we show no ads, and there is no advertising, attribution or analytics software in the app. We do not track you across other apps or websites.

Your photos

Google's handling of your photo

We use a paid tier of the Gemini API. Under Google's terms for paid services, Google does not use the images you submit to train or improve its models, and processes them under its Data Processing Addendum. Images may be retained briefly by Google for abuse detection.

What we store

There is no account, no sign-in and no email address. We cannot identify you.

What we never collect

Deleting your data

Deleting a restored photo in the app removes it from your device permanently. Deleting the app removes everything it stored. Because we hold nothing on a server, there is nothing else for us to delete.

Children

PastLight is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from children.

Changes

If this policy changes we will update this page and the date above.
